What We Do
At Fundacja Burza Mózgów, our activities are the living expression of our mission. Each programme is carefully designed to reach the communities that need us most, create genuine cultural encounters, and leave lasting impressions on the people we work with.
From hands-on art workshops for children to professional development programmes for cultural educators, everything we do is rooted in the belief that culture changes lives.
Programme 01
Our reading promotion work is one of the most expansive areas of our activity. We operate on multiple levels — working directly with children and families, but also equipping educators and cultural professionals with the tools to inspire reading in the people around them.
Activities in this programme include curated reading challenges for schools, storytelling sessions in libraries and community centres, author visits, and book recommendation resources designed specifically for different age groups.
We give special attention to professionally active cultural staff — teachers, librarians, and youth workers — who interact daily with younger generations and have an unparalleled opportunity to nurture a love of books.
Programme 02
Art education is central to everything we do. We run workshops in painting, drawing, mixed media, and visual storytelling for children and young people of all skill levels. Our sessions are designed to be inclusive, joyful, and accessible — no prior experience required.
We work with schools, community centres, and cultural institutions across Kraków and beyond. Each workshop is led by practising artists who bring their passion and expertise directly to participants.
The aim is not to produce professional artists, but to help every participant discover their own creative voice and build confidence through artistic expression.
Programme 03
Emerging artists often face significant barriers: lack of funding, limited networks, and few opportunities to present their work publicly. Our young artist support programme addresses all three.
We offer studio access, mentorship from established artists, and presentation opportunities through exhibitions, performances, and public events. We also help young creatives navigate the world of grants, residencies, and arts funding.
Our goal is to help the next generation of Polish artists not only survive, but flourish — creating work that enriches the cultural landscape for everyone.
Programme 04
We organise and co-produce public cultural events that bring together artists, audiences, and communities. These range from intimate literary evenings and gallery openings to larger festivals and interdisciplinary projects.
Regular events featuring authors, poets, and translators in conversation with audiences. We create spaces for literature to be shared, debated, and celebrated.
We curate exhibitions that spotlight emerging and established artists, giving their work the visibility it deserves and connecting it with new audiences.
Free, open community events that bring art, music, and literature to public spaces — removing barriers and making culture an everyday experience for everyone.
Programme 05
Culture and civic life are deeply interconnected. We run initiatives that use the arts as a bridge between individuals, institutions, and communities — fostering dialogue, mutual understanding, and active citizenship.
Through partnerships with local authorities, NGOs, schools, and cultural institutions, we work to build the kind of collaborative civil infrastructure that allows communities to thrive.
We believe that a foundation's greatest contribution to society is not just the projects it runs, but the networks and relationships it helps to build over time.
